In this region, you can hike, fish, and ski in a veritable winter wonderland. Blue Knob State Park averages 12 feet of snowfall a year—perfect for downhill and cross-country skiing. Trek through Shawnee State Park on one of the many hiking trails, and then spend a night by the lake at Shawnee Lodge. In nearby Huntingdon County, watch the wildlife on old Iroquois land at Whipple Dam State Park.
