Back to State Parks

The rustic and remote Pennsylvania Wilds region provides an escape from the hectic outside world. Hit the slopes at Denton Hill State Park in isolated Potter County. At nearby Sinnemahoning State Park, you can ice-fish or even track an elk on a fresh blanket of snow. Peer into the frosty Pennsylvania Grand Canyon from Colton Point State Park, or hike one of the many rigorous trails. Ole Bull State Park is great for snowshoeing, or take in its history – the park's namesake was a famous violinist who planned a Norwegian settlement there.

Formerly the Black Forest, Cook Forest boasts an awe-inspiring National Natural Landmark: towering old-growth pines and hemlocks that form a "Forest Cathedral." Sledding enthusiasts flock to Clear Creek for its two-acre slope, and ice-fishers enjoy the warming hut with benches and a wood-burning stove at Chapman State Park.
